Should you upgrade from iPad 2? (updated with Verizon snafu)
This review is for iPad 2 owners trying to decide whether to upgrade. It also might be helpful for people deciding between buying a "new iPad" and an iPad 2 (which is now just 399, 100 bucks cheaper than the cheapest "new iPad").I was perfectly happy with my iPad 2, a wifi-only model with 32gb. When Apple announced the new iPad, I typed up a long list of reasons why I shouldn't buy it. And then I bought one anyway. (I'll be giving my iPad 2 to my parents.)You've probably already read up on the new iPad and know the list of new features it has, and how the specs compare to the iPad 2's specs. But comparing specs on paper is different than comparing the actual experience of using the two products, and the experience matters more than the specs. I can tell you which of those features, at least to me, really makes the experience of using the new iPad better. And there's only one: the display.I do a lot of reading on the iPad, and this is where... Top to learn more

Predictably Remarkable. The best tablet in its 10" class, but still no 7" version!
I was able to secure the new iPad at our local Apple store this morning, as ours wasn't too busy, but I also got to spend a little time with a review model beforehand. In any case, I'll take you hands-on with the new model, plus I'll share my experience from my past two years of iPad ownership altogether, especially for those who haven't yet had an iPad to call their own. I'll also reveal a treasure trove of info on how you can legitimately download tons of quality apps and games for free, in hopes of making this the most helpful iPad review on Amazon! My review tends to run long, so I've organized information by section, with headings, to make it more helpful for those just looking for specific info. For example, see the heading "Downloading Apps and Games" for the info on obtaining free apps and games!First, let's quickly cover what's new, and what each means for you:+ Retina Display - twice the resolution of the iPad 2, at 2048 x 1536 pixels... Perfect Match, AMAZING Device!!!
Battery Life: Personally, this has to be on my top 2 priorities. I own several toys/gadgets, great as some may be, once the battery goes out, I'm sorely disappointed. Hate the several hours of wait time for them to charge back up. So they either get very little use or go back in the original package and into the closet. Now this Galaxy Tab I've been using heavily over the past 3 days, during last week's long X'mas holiday, and it still has about 10% charge left in it. This said, it only took about 3.5 hours to re-charge and power it back up to 100%. Excellent.Portability: Perfect size, perfect screen size for yours truly. I can finally and easily now see a lot of things as compared to my tiny smartphone screen. Fits tightly in my jeans back pocket, but fits nicely in my cargo pants pockets. I now carry it or have it nearby for use all over the house. Also, a quality built, solid product in my humble opinion.Display: Awesome, just beautiful,...

Vital Statistics
The Samsung Galaxy Tab weighs 13.4 ounces and measures 7.5 x 4.8 x 0.45 inches. Its 4000 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 13 hours of battery life, and up to 500 hours (20+ days) of standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE frequencies as well as AT&T's dual-band 3G network (850/1900 GSM/EDGE/UMTS/HSPA 7.2).
High-speed AT&T 3G Mobile Broadband Network The dual-band 850/1900 MHz 3G network makes it possible to enjoy a variety of feature-rich wireless multimedia services, and gives you the advantage of offering simultaneous voice and data services.
In areas where the 3G network is not available, you'll continue to receive service on the AT&T EDGE network, which offers availability in more than 13,000 U.S. cities and along some 40,000 miles of major highways. It's fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services, including full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and e-mail on the go.
Easy Pay-As-You-Go Data Plan Options
AT&T offers two pay-as-you-go data plan options for the Galaxy Tab--a $14.99 plan for 30 days with up to 250 MB of usage and a $25 plan for 30 days with up to 2 GB of usage. If you use all the data included in your plan before 30 days, you can purchase another pay-as-you go plan. The data plans do not require a long-term contract.
As a courtesy reminder, AT&T will notify you when the 30-day plan is close to expiring or when you are close to depleting the amount of data available in the plan. For additional convenience, these plans can automatically renew every 30 days (when paid for using a credit card or debit card).
You'll also enjoy easy on-device wireless activation and account management. Tapping "Activate" on the AT&T Account Manager begins the quick wireless service activation process. Tapping "Buy More Credit" on the AT&T Account Manager on device (with active wireless service) allows for quick access to view remaining data/time, purchase more data, add a device, or edit information about your account.
An alternative to the Android virtual keyboard, the Swype virtual keyboard allows you to input text by swiping the finger with one continuous finger or stylus motion across the screen keyboard. Based on testing, speed and accuracy are equal to or better than the traditional keyboard-tapping method. You can activate the Swype keyboard by pressing and holding in a text field, waiting for popup to appear, clicking Input Method, and then selecting Swype.
A key advantage to Swype is that by roughly aiming to pass through the letters of the word there is no need to be very accurate, enabling rapid text entry.
AT&T Galaxy Tab
I received the Samsung Galaxy Tab as an early Christmas present. This device is hands down brilliant! I absolutely love it. It has a great, big, bright screen. Surfing the web, reading books, watch HD videos, it excels at all of these tasks and more. The battery hold a good charge and lasts for hours. The software is very stable and quite responsive. The tablet also works perfectly with my Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard. There are a few things about the tablet that are kind of annoying:1. AT&T as always has put a bunch of bloatware applications on the tablet that I haven't been able to remove. I have not rooted the device yet, and I'm sure once I do I will be able to remove the applications, but the point is I shouldn't have to root it to get the crap off it. Update, I was able to Easily root this device with Z4root (from the market), and I was able to rid out all the AT&T apps that I didn't want.2. There is a front mount camera, but there are no...

Great device-some issues
I have had this AT&T GT for 4 days now and it is a keeper for me, I would have given it 5 stars but read on. I have had a few Droid phones and currently use a Droid2, I also have a 7" rebranded Haipad 701 running 2.2.1 so I have a fair amount of Droid experience. Right out of the box this unit runs very solid and smooth, the capacitive touch screen is so easy to use in comparison to the 701's resistive screen. That is what I hoped for; flicking, scrolling, tapping, choosing accurately etc is a big frustration on the 701 but very nice on the GT. WiFi works great, I was on line within minutes of opening the box. There are many apps that you can install to make your GT suit your use/lifestyle, great versatility.Obviously I really like this GT but that does not mean it is perfect, therefore the 4 stars. It has some Samsung issues and AT&T has done their best to cripple it to their advantage which is a shame, but all the vendors cripple their GT's (like they do their...

Heed the Warning Well
It's a fine product, and it works just fine in products that support the SDHC format. However, be ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN your product (be it a digital camera, memory card reader or--in my case--the Palm T|X PDA which for some STRANGE reason doesn't read it) reads it. Just because your device is new doesn't necessarily mean that it will recognize SDHC cards (as opposed to the older SD cards). If your device recognizes SDHC cards, then by all means go forth and thrash. You won't find a better card for the price. Top to learn more
Works great on my Kindle!
I recently bought a Kindle and wanted the extra storage space for books. The Kindle manual states that is uses SD cards, but didn't specify if it could use SDHC cards too. After chatting with a few people in the Kindle Discussion room, I found that others are succesfully using SDHC cards in their Kindle's, but Amazon Kindle Tech Support told me that they will not support SDHC cards at this time, should they fail.So being an avid reader, I took the chance and ordered the SanDisk 8GB SDHC card and it works like a champ in the Kindle. I've loaded 7 books to it already and can read and write to it without a problem. Be aware though, that only 7.3 GB of space is available on the card for storage when used in the Kindle.I have had no problems with any of the SanDisk SD, SD Micro, or XD cards I've purchased over the years. They are reliable & durable and I will continue to purchase this brand again in the future. Top to learn more

Huge, Fast and Reliable
I am very fond of my Sandisk cards. I also have a Sandisk 4.0 GB Extreme card, and did an interesting comparison. I held a recording time race between Ultra and Extreme, here in my livingroom. Recording a big buffer full of photos in multiple trials, the recording times were identical. The more expensive Extreme was no faster than this card. In my case, the recording rate has to be limited by my camera, a Nikon 8800. Having a reliable card as large as 8.0 GB is very helpful. My cards have traveled to Alaska, Mexico, and Ecuador, and have had to function in all sorts of conditions. They have recorded 100,000+ photos, each of which I desperately did not want to loose. I back them up as often as I can, but I still worry, and I have lost photos when other cards failed. I am pleased to say I have never lost a photo from a Sandisk card - in spite of the abuse I put them through. Last week I filled up my Sandisk Ultra II... Top to learn more

Great Card for the money
This is the best value in an 8 gig card. I've bought a couple super fast generic cards and they are slooooow. False advertizing. I will stick to name brands. I'm using this in a Nikon D2X and D200 and the card is plenty fast. It will empty a full buffer of 25 raw images in one minute, plenty fast for me. Faster brand name cards might be faster but more money. For me this is the right balance of speed and cost. Top to learn more
High capacity, high speed, maximum flexibility...
I've been using this card on my camera since early May, and I am completely enthralled by the flexibility that its speed and capacity give me. Try as I might, the closest I've come to filling this card up on my Canon XTi was on a 5 day long trip where I shot over 3,000 pictures on Medium/Fine quality (2816x1880). I didn't have my computer or any other storage with me on the trip, so I was anticipating having to go through and start deleting pictures at some point to be able to keep everything I wanted and still be able to shoot more. On the third day though, I realized that I had only half-filled the card with about 2,000 shots. I was also able to get a 90-shot burst at 3fps on medium. For the most part, Medium/Fine resolution on the XTi will be good enough for most prints. I've printed up to 11x14 with a bit of post-processing with great success. So the card by itself will handle a very photo-happy trip with the right quality settings. But when I'm going out for... Great USB Drive at a Good Value Price
I have had this device for over a month now and I have filled it over 65% already and have had no issues with speed or compatability. Worked on all platforms. I did remove the U3 SW as I prefer to use Portable Apps. I will break down the review as such:Compatibility: I have used it on Win XP, Win Vista, Mac OS X and Windows 2000. No issues at all.Speed: I copied 8 GB worth of data on the very first day. With write speeds around 15+ MB/s - it performed as expected. Its not the fastest but it is adequate for 99% of users.Durability: Well, I didn't think I could say much about this except that it has worked fine daily for the last month or so. I will add that this little device did survive a full wash and dry cycle and still is chugging along. I think that speaks volumes about its durability. I know its a SSD so it should be expected to survive such things - but you don't believe it until you see/experience it.Asthetics: It is... Top to learn more

Great Xbox 360 Storage Device
This product works great as a storage device for the Xbox 360. It meets all of the requirements for the 360 and performs perfectly! I have half of it set aside for my Xbox and use the other half for personal files and my PS3 save data backups as well! There are only a couple of drawbacks. The first is the very tiny spot on the back for attaching a keychain (actually, I couldn't get a keychain to fit and instead put a cell phone lanyard with a keychain on the end on it). The second drawback is that when you have the device plugged into something there is a very bright, annoying pulsing light that emanates from the top. This can be very distracting when trying to watch Netflix movies from your Xbox. Top to learn more

All-around great GPS
I absolutely love this GPS. I've used a Garmin Oregon 300, Garmin Etrex and vista, Garmin gpsmap 60Csx and a Garmin Rino 530 and this GPS is better than all of them. The accuracy is great on this, usually around 9 ft regardless of whether or not I'm under tree cover or near large metal objects. The unit is also incredibly sensitive and does a good job measuring speed whether walking (slow pace to fast pace), biking, or driving in the car. The screen is very easy to see in direct, bright sunlight or at night. The paperless geocaching is amazing. So far, I have mostly used it for geocaching and it generally takes me directly to the cache. There is a menu bar that allows you to add shortcuts you easily jump to by using the quit and page keys, which makes switching from map to compass, to geocaches to elevation plot extremely easy, especially while riding a bicycle. I had trouble navigating the touch-screen oregon on my bike, and this gpsmap 62s is a breeze. The only issue I... Top to learn more

Some initial problems; now mostly fixed!
UPDATE September 7 2010. The issues resolved below are solved by release 2.50 of the 62st firmware. I have no trouble recommending this unit at this point!I purchased the 62st recently and took it out for a 9 mile geocaching adventure. While I like the unit very much in general, it has one major problem. Like any hiking GPS, the 62st will record your track as you hike, letting you upload it to your computer when you return home. This is very useful for keeping track of your adventures. The accuracy of the 62st's GPS, combined with its barometric altimeter, lets you accurately record your track for later use.Sadly what I discovered is that on the 62st simply pressing buttons on the GPS interferes with the barometric altimeter. Pressing even a single button on the GPS can result in spikes in the recorded data of 30 feet or more! On my first test hike, my 62st GPS said that I had climbed more than 8000 vertical feet, while the other GPSes carried by my... Top to learn more

Works OK, but could be improved
The 62S is my third GPS, purchased April 2011. With it, I purchased the MapSource City Navigator DVDs for NorthAmerica/Mexico (2011.1 NT) and Europe (2012.NT), a DaneElec 4 GB microSD card, and a Colorado Series Bike Mount (#11023).
